Rules of Play


  1. Any players found playing without having signed the player roster is subject to suspension and the team will forfeit the game. Any previous games are also subject to forfeiture.

  2. Bats must currently be approved by ASA for play. Umpires will check before each game. All round robin games will have a 55 minute time limit.

  3. All innings that are started prior to 55 minutes must be completed. In round robin, a tie may occur. All double-elimination games will have a 55 minute time limit. If an inning starts, it must be completed. In double-elimination a tie may not occur and the game will continue until there is a winner. International tie-break rules will apply.

  4. All games will be played with a modified 1-1 count with a courtesy foul.

  5. There will be a mercy rule in round robin and double-elimination games - 20 runs after 3 innings, 15 after 4 innings, 10 after 5 innings. The Championship games will have no time limit and will be played with a 1-1 count.

  6. Teams must submit their line-up with player names and numbers as well as subs and their numbers to the opposing team and the umpire on line-up cards provided before the start of each game.

  7. Home team will be determined by a coin toss in all round robin games. The higher seed in double-elimination games will be the home team with the exception of the Championship Game. The Winner's Bracket Champion will be the home team. In the "if necessary" game, the Loser's Bracket Champion will be the home team.

  8. Both teams will keep a scorebook. The home team will be responsible for the score in the case of a dispute.

  9. Home Run Limit - Over the fence per team, D Division - 0 per game; C Division - 1 per game, B Division - 3 per game. Any home run above this limit will constitute an out.

  10. Grace period - NONE with the exceptions of a) allowance for completion of an on-going game and b) time for movement to a new field.

  11. Teams may bat up to 12 batters, but not required. ASA rules will apply with less than 10 players.

  12. Courtesy Runners - One courtesy runner per inning. Last player out.

  13. Blood Rule - No player can play with a bleeding wound. Umpires will make reasonable accommodations to tend to injuries.

  14. Any jewelry which presents a hazard of injury must be removed before play. Small stud earrings may be taped.

  15. ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL will be permitted at the fields. Any team found with alcohol will be removed from the tournament. This is a legal issue for the fields and a zero tolerance rule is in effect.

  16. All teams must have similar uniforms with unique numbers clearly marked on the backs.

  17. Seeding for double-elimination will be based on W-L, then Runs Allowed, then head-to-head, then coin flip.

  18. Tournament Directors have final say on all disputes.
